Vienna Composition Lab provides an extraordinary opportunity for beginners to professional composers, allowing them to delve into the professional creative process, starting from securing a formal commission to receiving personalized composition lessons and attending seminars on relevant subjects, ultimately culminating in a recording performed by a world-class ensemble. This distinctive three-week experience takes place in Vienna, the renowned music capital of the world, providing participants with a daily immersive experience in a vibrant culture and rich artistic heritage.
During the Vienna Composition Lab, selected participants will have the opportunity to receive a composition commission on the first day of the course or work on their current composition, adhering to specific requirements and parameters including instrumentation, length, and submission date (within a two-week time frame). As a rewarding culmination, these commissioned works will be professionally recorded in audio-visual format by the esteemed Wiener Festspiele Ensemble. Throughout the program, each composer will also benefit from personalized one-to-one mentoring sessions over the course of the first two and a half weeks, while the third week will be dedicated to score preparation, rehearsals, and a final studio recording of the compositions..
